How do I apply?

What is the Santa Cruz Seaside Company?

The Santa Cruz Seaside Company is a locally-owned organization which operates the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Boardwalk Bowl, Carousel Beach Inn and the Sea & Sand Inn.

I would like to apply for several different positions. Do I need to fill out an application for each job?

No. Once you create your applicant account, you may apply for as many jobs as you would like.

I have a resume, do I still need to fill out an application?

Yes. An application is required, but you may also attach your resume within the application.

How will I know if my resume or application has been received?

You will get a confirmation email once you complete and submit your application.

How do I know if my completed application went through?

Follow these steps to find out:

  1. Log back in to your application
  2. Go to the Menu on the top left
  3. Click My Jobs
  4. Search for the job you you want
  5. Click Apply To This Job
  6. Click Finish and Apply
  7. Hooray indicates that you have successfully applied for the job

How old do I have to be to work at the Boardwalk?

We hire for ages 16+ (some openings for 14 year-olds)

When do you start hiring for summer jobs at the Boardwalk?

Typically, hiring begins in early January and will continue throughout the summer. The Boardwalk is open on weekends year-round and daily starting March 30th through Labor Day. Please see our calendar for more information about the Boardwalk's operating schedule.

The best time to apply is between January and May when we do most of our hiring and training in preparation for a busy spring break and summer.

I forgot my password and I’m locked out of my account.

I am a current employee and want to apply for a promotion or a transfer.

Current employees can apply to different jobs by logging in to Kronos and following these steps:

  • In the "Email Address" area, enter your Employee ID #
  • Enter Password: 
    • If you’ve never logged in, your temporary password is "Boardwalk" with a capital B
    • Or select ‘forgot password’ and follow the prompts.
  • Once you’re logged in, click the menu on the top-left corner (3 horizontal lines)
    1. Select "My Career"  
    2. Click "Search for Jobs".  
    3. Apply to the position you are interested in and include any changes in contact information in the cover letter section as well as your qualifications and the reason you are interested in the position. Uploading your resumé is optional.

Where do I park?

Park in the Boardwalk's Main Parking Lot, across the street from Neptune's Kingdom. Please bring your parking ticket and we will validate it for free parking.

What are the personal appearance or grooming standards?

At the Santa Cruz Seaside Company, we strive to create an environment where our Guests create lifetime memories. We want our appearance to reflect the world-class park that we are.


If hair color is your style, it's welcome. Please keep it tidy – clean, brushed and kept back from the face. Hair color must be permanent or semipermanent, no sprays, glitter, chalks or temporary products. Tie long hair back with plain clips or hairbands to let guests see your beautiful face (especially important in Food Service).


Food Service employees must comply with the Department of Health regulations.


Sideburns should be straight, neatly trimmed, and may extend to the end of the earlobe. Beards, mustaches, and goatees are allowed; however, they must be neatly trimmed and not longer than one inch. An established beard is an intentionally grown beard, not several days of not shaving. Other than established beards, mustaches and goatees, you are expected to be cleanly shaven every work day. An established beard must not have any empty spaces between the sideburns, mustache, or goatee.

Special note: Employees required to wear respirators must meet fit-test requirements that may require a clean-shaven face.


Please select tasteful and appropriate jewelry to wear at work. Jewelry should be both safe and appropriate for your work environment. Food Service employees must comply with Department of Health regulations.

You may wear up to three earrings per ear. Earrings may not exceed two inches in length or diameter. Stud earrings can be no larger than ¼ inch in diameter.

You may wear one small nose stud no bigger than 2mm. No other visible pierced jewelry or body adornment is allowed. You may wear plugs, that are a plain, solid color, and do not exceed ¼ inch in diameter.  Sorry, no tunnels or tapers.


We want you to share your individuality while ensuring our guests and coworkers feel safe and respected. Tattoos that are located on the face, head, neck or chest are NOT allowed to be visible while wearing company uniform or office attire. Tattoos that contain obscene, profane, racist, gang-related, sexual, violent or other objectionable words or imagery are NOT allowed to be visible while wearing company uniform or office attire. Tattoos located behind the ear must be smaller than 1.5 inches and not extend past the bottom of the earlobe. Tattoos may not be covered by makeup or bandages.

FAQs for Former Employees

Is it safe to work during the COVID-19 pandemic?

We have extensive COVID-19 safety procedures in place. Every day you come to work at the Boardwalk you must go through a health screening, including a temperature check. You will be provided gloves, masks and face shields (for applicable positions). Every employee who returns will attend a COVID-19 training and every department will conduct a training for procedures specific to that area. Surfaces throughout the facility are sanitized and disinfected frequently. 

When would I start work?

We have a variety of needs, but most people can expect to begin working weekends in late April. Weekday availability is also needed for certain positions now. After Memorial Day we’re looking for as much availability as possible.  

Do I have to go through Orientation again?

A virtual COVID-19 specific training will be required.  

What positions are available?

Our openings will vary depending on when you are able to interview with us and begin working. We are prioritizing staff for Food Service and Rides, but we also have openings at the Boardwalk Bowl, Guest Services, and more. Our current positions and your interests will be discussed at your interview.

Will I be hired into the same position I was in last year?

What is the interview process?

You will be scheduled for a 10-to-15-minute phone call interview.  

What if I can’t remember my Kronos/UKG password?

If you’re unsure what your password is, don’t log in too many times. Use the "password reset" function on the login page.

  • In the "Email Address" area, enter your Employee ID #
  • Enter Password: 
    • If you’ve never logged in, your temporary password is "Boardwalk" with a capital B
    • Or select ‘forgot password’ and follow the prompts.
  • Once you’re logged in:  
    1. Search "My Jobs Portal"
    2. Choose "My Applicant Profile"
    3. Verify your contact information
    4. Click the menu on the top-left corner (3 horizontal lines) and select "Find Jobs"
    5. Apply to the position(s) you are interested in and an optional pop-up will appear to paste a cover letter, and/or upload a new resumé.
