Group 1 Crew
Lead by Manwell Reyes, Group 1 Crew is a five-time Dove Award-winning troupe that pushes the musical envelope with an infectious stream of hip-hop, rap, pop, rock and inspirational confections. Expect an ambitious, sonic potpourri that could easily find a home alongside Bruno Mars, Drake, Rihanna or Wiz Khalifa on today’s Top 40, with plenty of shout-outs to ‘90s R&B and timeless pop. They have landed three number one hits at CHR with "He Said," "His Kind of Love," and "Dangerous."
Group 1 Crew’s creative framework continues to find social relevance in outlets as diverse as NBC’s America’s Got Talent, The Mo’Nique Show, FOX’s The Simple Life, Style Network’s Kimora Lee Simmons: Life in the Fab Lane, MTV’s Run’s House and The CW’s One Tree Hill.
Diagnosed at an early age with a severe learning disability, Jon endured cruel and relentless taunting, ridiculing, and bullying from his school peers and neighborhood children on a daily basis.
Even some of Jon’s own teachers said surprisingly callous things that furthered his struggle with low self-worth and sinking sense of personal value. After graduating from Bethany University in Scotts Valley, CA, he began traveling the world using his own story to positively and effectively address the widespread issues of bullying, poor self-image and overcoming personal obstacles. He started a non-profit organization in 1994 known as, "Feel the Power". He uses feats of strength as a tool to grab people's attention then proceeds to deliver his message.
Jon is the current Guinness record holder for "the tightest circumference of two aluminum frying pans rolled together with his bare hands in less than 30 seconds."
Led by Dave Matsumura, Kokua is a group of musicians whose goal is to help people connect with God through music.
Matsumura believes that "music can bring us together. It's something we can create. It's a way we can jointly give to God from our hearts."
