EMPLOYMENT FACTS
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants are required to read, speak, and understand conversational English
to provide service to our guests. If you arrive in Santa Cruz and cannot read
and speak conversational English you will be asked to leave the program. You
must arrive in Santa Cruz no later than June 30, 2008 and work through September
1, 2008.
COMPENSATION:
Our starting rate of pay is $8.25 per hour for most seasonal positions. Our employees also receive discounted bus passes, 20% to 40% food discount at our Boardwalk restaurants, free Boardwalk ride passes and lots of employee activities.
The seasonal nature of the Boardwalk enables us to guarantee a 32 hour work
week in the summer.
A typical schedule is six days a week. Those hired will be expected to work Saturday, Sunday and holidays. If you elect to have a second job please remember that you must work at the Boardwalk at least 32 hours a week and that your Boardwalk schedule must take priority over any other jobs.
PERSONAL APPEARANCE:
As a representative of our company, we require Employees to maintain a professional, neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
Hair: All employees must choose hair styles and colors which are conservative and are not extreme. Hair color must be a “natural” color or may be dyed a “natural” color.
Male Hair: Hair must be neat and well-trimmed on the sides and in the back and may extend to the middle of the collar. Sideburns should be neatly trimmed and may extend only to the bottom of the ear. Neatly groomed mustaches are permitted and may extend 1 inch below the corners of the mouth. Males may not grow or wear full beards. Small neatly trimmed hair patches between the sides of the mouth, the lower lip and the chin and small neatly trimmed goatees in the same area are allowed.
Jewelry: Select tasteful and appropriate jewelry to wear to work. Remember that jewelry should be both safe and appropriate for your work environment. No extremes will be allowed.
Women: Women may wear up to three earrings per ear. Earrings may not exceed 2 inches in length.
Men: Men may wear one earring which may be either a 1/4 inch stud or a small hoop up to
1/2 inch in diameter.
Men and women may not wear pierced jewelry on other visible areas of the body including the tongue.
Tattoos: Tattoos are not permitted if visible when wearing a company-issued uniform or when wearing business or professional dress. You may not cover tattoos on hands or arms with bandages or make up.
Note: Most company-provided uniforms have short sleeves with a choice of shorts and/or long pants.
OTHER FACTS:
Our minimum hiring age is 18 for our Work and Travel program. All employees, at the time of hire, are required to obtain a valid Social Security number and will be required to provide a valid photo I.D., and proof of their legal right to work in the United States.
According to our employment needs at the time of your arrival, you will be assigned one of the jobs listed above. There is no guarantee that you will be able to work in the job of your choice.
