SANTA CRUZ, CA (September 11, 2009) - The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is officially, the “Best Seaside Park” in the world. The historic California amusement park was honored during the 2009 Golden Ticket Awards, the most prestigious awards in the amusement industry. The Boardwalk has won “Best Seaside Park” every year since the category was established in 2007.
Winners were selected by amusement park enthusiasts around the world in a poll conducted by Amusement Today, an amusement industry trade publication. Tom Canfield, the Boardwalk’s vice president of operations, accepted the award on September 10 during an award ceremony at LEGOLAND California in Carlsbad.
The Boardwalk’s 1911 Looff carousel also did well in the “Best Carousel” category, placing second behind the Grand Carousel at Knoebels Amusement Resort in Pennsylvania.
