Santa Cruz’s longtime bowling center offers a blast of family entertainment by the beach.
The Boardwalk Bowl (formerly the Surf Bowl) underwent a $3.5 million dollar renovation in late 2001 and now offers the latest in high-tech bowling fun.
Complete with new pinsetters, synthetic lanes, 34-inch scoring monitors, and ball returns, the 25,200 square foot building is a state-of-the-art entertainment center. In addition, its new seating, Party Room, Coasters Bar, B.B. Eats restaurant, and Pro Shop make this Santa Cruz’s prime fun headquarters.
“We are very excited to have reinvested in the beach area to provide a high quality, state-of-the-art center,” said Boardwalk Bowl Director Willie King. “This appeals to both the serious sports person and to those locals and visitors just looking to have fun in an exciting and friendly atmosphere.”
The Boardwalk Bowl continues an extensive number of year-round leagues as well as activities such as Atomic Bowling, and Rock and Bowl.
The Coaster's Lounge, adjoining the Boardwak Bowl, features karaoke five nights a week, and live local bands on Friday nights.
Located at 115 Cliff Street, the Boardwalk Bowl is the latest edition to a longtime family entertainment tradition in Santa Cruz.
Originally opened in the 1950s, the facility was purchased by the Santa Cruz Seaside Company (owners/operators of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk) in 1994.
To visit the new Boardwalk Bowl, take Highway 1 or 17 to Santa Cruz and follow the signs to the beaches/Boardwalk.
